These contributions enable Stripe Climate to partner with Frontier, Stripe’s in-house team of scientists and commercial experts, to identify and purchase permanent carbon removal solutions. Frontier rigorously vets projects for their scientific credibility and potential for long-term impact, ensuring that every dollar invested goes toward promising technologies that can scale.

Projects We Support

Carbon removal is a rapidly evolving field, with innovators exploring a wide range of methods to extract CO₂ from the atmosphere. Through Stripe Climate, we support a diverse portfolio of emerging technologies working to make large-scale carbon removal a reality.

For instance, Climeworks is pioneering direct air capture technology. Using renewable geothermal energy and waste heat, Climeworks captures CO₂ directly from the air and permanently stores it underground in basaltic rock formations through a process developed in partnership with Carbfix.

Another exciting project, Charm Industrial, has created a novel approach that converts plant-based biomass into bio-oil, which is then injected deep underground for long-term storage, locking away carbon for thousands of years. These projects are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in carbon removal, and we’re proud to support their growth.
